You may travel by aero-plan, by bus or by train but traveling by horse is unique one, especially on the mountainous region. Horse is beautiful animal but expensive to keep it. Horse has been used only for ridding, war and traveling in the pastime. Horse has a vital role in the Northern Area's culture on the North part of Pakistan. The Polo is national game of this region and could be played by horses. In the North of Pakistan people now use the horses for ridding, polo game and for loading too. In the summer the people on the mountains change their pasturelands with cows, sheep, goats and camps, so they use horses and yaks to transport the loads.

The YAK is dweller of mountain and is a fierce looking shaggy creature, similar to cow and have been found in the North part of Pakistan. Especially yaks have been found in the Upper Hunza Valley- Gojal, Skardu, Chitral region. Yaks have been used as a source of milk, beef, wools and carrying the loads to the mountains in the pastures and also for ridding on the mountains.

This program will take you through the most beautiful rolling pastureland of rounded hill, wild flowers and boasting view of giant mountains, Deosia Plains, a vast high altitude plateau south and west of Skardu borders on Indian Kashmir. This high plateau lies between Karakuram and Himalayan ranges at an average altitude of 3800 m and easy accessible from Skardu via Satpara Lake and Astor Valley via Chachor pass. ON THE HORSEBACK TO THE ROOF OF THE WORLD "SHANDUR PASS 3800M"

Shandur top is a wide-open green plateau (20km long) filled with lakes and streams originated from nearby glaciers. Here you will have the best opportunity to ride freely amongst yaks and goatherds surrounded by snow capped peaks. Here, our camp will be set up by one of the lakes that surround the polo ground, and at night you will be able to admire the most incredible star-studded night sky you have ever seen. The annual polo tournament "the SHANDUR POLO "
is played (normally 7-9th July) by the best teams of Chitral and Gilgit valleys. Every year thousands of people from the surrounding regions come here to watch their favorite game. Throughout the festival, where one would usually find lonely shepherds with their herds, there is an authentic Asian bazaar, with folk music and dance every night, giving you the chance to meet people from most of the ethnic groups of north Pakistan. This adventurous horse ridding trip in the heart of Hindu-Kush, following ancient routes of famous invaders and explores. The ridding starts from the Mustuj Valley, 3-4hrs jeep drive from the Chitral. The road is undergoing steady improvement, setting is particularly beautiful with the villages spread out a cross a large alluvial fan. The streams and irrigation channel run through the fields of wheat and barely lined with popular trees while in the village apricot trees are scattered all around. You will ride strong, beautiful and agile stallions perfect for rough mountain terrain you will encounter along the journey. Your ridding will passing through the high plateau of Shandur Pass then move along the clear blue Ghizar River and crossing large tributes, the Yasin and Ishkoman. Finally following along the rough water of the Gilgit River to the Gilgit city by passing through fairly like villages, filled with life and colored fruit orchards. In the way there will be plenty of opportunities for exploring, trout fishing or just enjoy the surroundings.
Our camping will start from the Mustuj to the Sher Qila, overnights and meals in the camps, which arranged by our staff. Ridding 4-7 hrs a day, walking around the camp or fishing on the lakes. The route is jeep able road, landscape between slopes, narrow gorges and glacier-fed torrents.

TREK ON THE HORSEBACK IN THE HINDU-KUSH

Our trip will start from Islamabad then to Swat valley-Chitral including to visits historical and archaeological sites like Taxila and Taket-e-Bhai, to Mustuj Village where horse trek starts. We will arrange a Polo Match (mountain polo match) at Chitral town. This trip is the combination of jeep safaris and horse trek and trek in the Yarkhun Valley towards Broghill Pass. Almost all the Yarkhun people are Ismaili Muslims friendly people who enjoy song and poetry. Wakhi people have populated in Broghil area and have large herds of yaks, sheep and goats also horses and camels. These border areas have only opened to the foreigners since the end of the Russian occupation of Afghanistan in 1989. An important central Asian trade route passed through the Yarkhun Valley and crossed the Broghil Pass into Afghanistan and as to Kashgar and Yarkand. As recently as 1930, more than 1000 horses loads crossed the Broghil Pass each summer.

HORSEBACK ADVENTURE IN KAGHAN VALLEY

Kaqhan valley is the most favorite and very easy accessible valley of Pakistan. It has natural beauty with rugged by mountains, terraced fields, thick pine forestry, lush green valley, rushing down river and spectacular lakes. Nomadic families move up and down to the valley with their herd of sheep, goat and cows. In Kaghan Valley the Kunhar River and tourquies lakes are abound with trout Fishes. This program will take you on the back of horse through the beautiful meadows decked in wild flowers, lush green valleys, Lulusar Lake with its beautiful setting and amerald green water, more high altitude dam than a Lake.

Yak TREK on BATURA GLACIER

As we know that Batura Glacier (65km) is second longest in the world outside the polar region. This new thrilling adventure will take over on yak-back by the traditional SHEPHERD ROUTE to high pasture grounds, one will traverse the glacier near Malungutti, and side to Yashipirt. From here you can view the Batura peaks (From 6830 m to 7785m) the Kampir Dior group (6931 m to 7143 m), the Shispare (7619 m) and Passu Peak (7284 m). The local women who spend their summer in the pastureland are friendly to female trekkers. Perhaps you will enjoy spending time with local people in the pasture and allow you to glimpse into this unique way of life.

YAK TREKKING IN SHIMSHAL:

The most remote area of Hunza Valley,"SHIMSHAL" is lie at the northeast extreme of Hunza. The Shimshal village descends west into the Hunza River Valley at Passu Village, which separates the Ghujerab and Hisper Mustagh ranges of the Karakorum Mountain system. Shimshal village is situated on a series of glacier and alluvial deposits that form a broad ship between the river's floodplain and steep mountainous slopes to the South. The community of Shimshal is only direct communication with Hunza and rest of Pakistan by jeep able road the Shimshal River to the Passu and Karakorum Highway. The source of income of Shimshali people is farming and hardship. They have been herding of sheep, goats and yaks. Indeed they tend more livestock per capital than any other community.
